Reese can’t remember anything from the time between the accident and the day she woke up almost a month later. She only knows one thing: She’s different. Malinda Lo’s newest book, Adaptation, is a step away from her usual fare: it’s a young adult science fiction novel set in the near future. As the. The story of Adaptation () and Inheritance (), Malinda Lo’s excellent Young Adult science fiction duology from Little, Brown Books for.
This is what happens when you’re a teenager, you’re not just forced to construct a personality and plan out your future but also to determine your sexuality.
There was no unifying theme. Totally robbing the book as a whole. The main character is, for instance, actually adaptaton This novel is unique; the premise unheard of in this genre. The next love interest also didn’t spark fireworks. The tension is relentless until the teens make it safely back to San Francisco, at which point romantic entanglements Reese falls for Amber, but maybe she likes David too detract from the strange abilities Reese and David are developing and the conspiracies they begin to unravel with lots of men in black after them.
Reese and David were stranded in Arizona due to FAA’s grounding of all flights in and out of the country. With all flights grounded they rent a car and try to make their way home through the chaos; cars flood the highways and the government seems to be directing traffic.

Book Review: Adaptation by Malinda Lo — @TLT16 Teen Librarian Toolbox
Military convoys and panicked refugees clog the highways. There wasn’t a shortage of suspense as David and Reese sought out answers.
And I was surprised how the reason for the plane crash is added in almost as an afterthought. There are plenty of writing shortcuts that tell instead of show and my copy is littered with my underlining of examples: Reese gets swept up in the whole thing since it escalates rather quickly, but then has a moment where she realises she’s not ready. I’m not spoiling it because I didn’t go into this one spoiled and I mqlinda that was what made it so fun. Feb 04, Cyna rated it liked it.
This felt a little scattered, adapptation details discordant and unemotional. This is what happened to David and Reese. Sure I appreciate the novelty of a bisexual heroine in the cusps of sexual awakening but at its core, this still fell prey to the clutches of love triangles and unfounded attraction. Once David and Reese return home they are changed and weird things are happening to their bodies.

Reese believes the accident happened around the area most commonly known as Area Sorry, one more complaint: And a gay, black, Jewish conspiracy theorist that started out like the iconic line from “Kingsman”!
The ending was a perfect adaptstion, but there is a whole story here. There are strange dreams plaguing her at night and stranger compulsions in the morning; suited men following her around and a beautiful girl simultaneously disturbing and drawing her in.

This is the first book I read involving lesbian romance. Some parents …more There are several episodes of kissing, hugs and touching between both young women and men. When the big Twist finally came, I was so disengaged it just seemed eye-rollingly silly. It goes beyond a stereotypical Love Triangle of Doom by actually engaging with the possible scenario of falling in love and having a relationship with two people at the same time.
